On May 12, 2009, the State Assembly voted 89 to 52 to legalize marriage between two people of the same sex. The bill now proceeds to the State Senate, where indications are the vote will be very close. We urge you to contact your state Senator and tell them to maintain society's understanding of marriage as between one man and one woman.
