Catholics at the Capitol — Wednesday, March 19
Training materials and video HERE!
NOTE: The Diocese of Buffalo is closing registration for its contingent on Monday, March 3. Buffalo Diocese registrations cannot be accepted after that time. We are sorry for the inconvenience. Registration remains open in all other dioceses.
Register now for the New York State Catholic Conference’s 2014 public policy day, Catholics at the Capitol, to be held on Wednesday, March 19, at the Empire State Plaza Convention Center in Albany. Just submit the form below. Scroll down this page for important information. While there is no cost to attend, we welcome donations to defray expenses at the Donate link below or by sending a check to NYS Catholic Conference, 465 State St., Albany, NY 12203, Attn: Catholics at the Capitol.
Join with the Cardinal Dolan and the Bishops of New York State for a day of workshops and advocacy on issues of grave importance. Many participants will meet with their legislators. Others will be a visible symbol of Catholic unity in the halls of the state Capitol. Everyone will participate in Mass with the Bishops. Lunch will be provided. There is no registration fee, although donations to offset costs are gratefully appreciated and can be made by clicking the donation button above.
Keep checking HERE for training materials. You will be contacted with further information regarding buses and local training sessions. (Note: the Albany and Ogdensburg Dioceses will not be providing transportation.) Due to space limitations, not everyone will attend a legislative meeting. If you are not scheduled in a meeting, we will count on you to be a presence at the legislature, sitting in the gallery during session or standing in the hallways and lobbies to show the strength of the Catholic vote. If you indicate a desire to attend a meeting, your local coordinator will try to accommodate you, but there is no guarantee. To be considered for a meeting with an elected official, you may need to agree to attend diocesan issue training. Walk-ins will not participate in meetings under any circumstances.
Additional note: Knights of Columbus members and their families who are coming to Albany with their councils and who are not planning to participate in legislative meetings should not register through the NYS Catholic Conference or their diocese. Please contact Louis Pepe, administrative state Catholic advocacy coordinator, at firstname.lastname@example.org for bus information and other details.
Please note, your registration is not complete until it is confirmed by your local diocesan coordinator. You will receive an e-mail message with information on how to contact your coordinator if you do not hear from him or her first.
