Re: A2042 Maher
Authorizes the commissioner of the office of children and family services to conduct a study that examines barriers to the creation of childcare providers
The above-referenced legislation would authorize the commissioner of the office of children and family services to conduct a study that examines barriers to the creation of childcare providers and provide recommendations thereto to facilitate the creation of new childcare providers. The New York State Catholic Conference commends the sponsor for this important bill and supports the initiative.
As a cost-of-living crisis persists, parents must work to support their families. Unfortunately, a lack of childcare providers often makes this difficult. It is a problem that particularly impacts the poor, who remain in poverty and rely on public assistance when unable to work. To ensure that families thrive, we must do more to encourage childcare options in all communities.
Supporting childcare is an important part of walking with moms in need. This study would be an excellent step toward improving outcomes for children and their families. We urge you to support it.
